
![]() The National Emblem of the Lao People's Democratic Republic is in the form of a circle. Its bottom part depicting a red ribbon with the inscription in Lao language "Sathalanalat Pasathipatai Pasason Lao" which is the official name of the country - Lao People's Democratic Republic, framed on two sides with crescent shaped ears of ripe rice with a red ribbon stretched between the middle of the rice ears with the inscription "Peace, Independence, Democracy, Unity, Prosperity". The top part of the emblem is formed by curving rice stalks which enclose six component symbols of the productive proletarian state. Vientiane's That Luang (which represents religion); a checkerboard of rice fields (agriculture); half of a cog wheel (industry); a hydroelectric dam (energy); a highway (transport); and a grove of trees (forestry). |
